He's cowardly, whines when he's not wearing his "mage armour", likes to hide from combat, but does a mean line in Magic Missile. Who would have thought such a small gnome would have such a wide yellow streak all the way down his back. In theory, Randy is a Sorceror. but from the accounts of his friends, he's more 'Ali Bongo' than 'David Copperfield'. That must be due to all those tied-together, brightly coloured silk hankies he pulls from his sleeve to entertain the kiddies. Or the sound of cooing from the selection of small pigeons tied into quick-release leather bags under his armpits... == Randy's view == From a little delve in the rolling hills and gentle woodlands of Southern Caldonacia, Randy was a very inquisitive gnomelet who listened avidly to the tales told by the auld codgers (sorry... Elders!) as they sat round the hearth of an evening. Tales of the long disappeared glories of Gnomekind and the struggles of the great Gurnarigan One-Eye enthralled Randy night after night. Randy found it difficult to reconcile the past glories with the few hidden remnants of his kin until he asked the great crusty (sorry... Elder!) Grumpe Odervay (distantly related - there was a lot of Odervays in the delve... and quite a few wearing bottle top glasses too!) about this slight disparity. Ohh... the tales of slaughter and enslavement that poured out of Grumpe once the well had been breached. Deep Dwarfs and Gnomes from the Underdark... raiding... killing... stealing... Randy vowed to continue with Gurnarigan One-Eye's struggle but being weedier then the average Gnome, cunning use of knowledge seemed to be the safer option than direct confrontation. Unfortunately, the methods used by Randy to acquire said knowledge did not sit well with the Great Codger in Charge's (sorry..Delve Elder's !) morals. After the fifth attempt to spy on the Great Codgers daughter in the bath (anatomy is knowledge too, you know...), Randy was told to leave his home (actually it was really "Bugger off ya sneaky, pervy four eyed get") to seek his knowledge some where else - anywhere else but here, that is. It was after years in the wilderness whilst travelling from place to place (ok, ok... circus to circus!) searching for yet more dead interesting knowledge, that Randy perfected his perceived skill with hankies, doves and assorted card tricks. It was a bit of a shock to his system (and his pursuers - it wasn't his fault that the branch of the tree he was hiding in snapped and catapulted him on top of the the Bearded Lady thus crushing a couple of tender parts of The Strongmans anatomy, who just happened to be underneath her) when Randy discovered that he really did have a talent for magic. Being the sort of brave gnome that he is, Randy decided to specialise in the "hit 'em from behind cover a long way away" sort of magic and hence Randy the Magic Missile Maestro was born. Eager to follow in Gurnarigan One-Eye's footsteps and attempt to restore the fortunes of the Gnomish Gnation, Randy wants to found his own band of adventurers to aid him... (enter Formil, Insorce, Jim and Mouse stage left)... the curtain ascends and... "on with the show" !
