= The City of Ridstock = Ridstock is the second city of the county of Nuneith, under control of Earl Reginald Browley in Eversham. Its feudal ruler is Viscount Carter McGraid, but his old age has caught up with him, and the day-to-day operation is carried out by his son and heir, Winston McGraid. Ridstock sits on the River Veden, which begins in the hills and moor land to the south of the city and flows through the Veden Forest and out to Sizewell on the coast. Ridstock is a large city, maybe 4/5ths the size of Eversham, and is every bit as industrialised. The city's main products are worked stone from quarries to the south and agricultural farming output. They also have a big industry working the Veden Forest to the west. Unlike Eversham, which seems to have found favour with The Dwarves, the city has a larger than average halfling population. These live in the north east corner of the city, where the houses are smaller and more suited to these people. There is a larger halfling population in the surrounding villages too, they are mostly involved in agriculture. == Places of Interest == === Places to Stay === There are several inns in the city where travellers can rest. The major ones are listed here| * Wallis's Tavern. Originally just an ale house, the building has been extended into the yard-space behind, and into the area which used to be the building next door; it now has several rooms to let. It still specialises in very high quality ales, but also caters for commercial traders and richer travellers. It is operated by Norman Wallis and his wife Edna. * Woodley's Inn. Arnold Woodley is a halfling migrant from the countryside; he comes from a farming family to the north of the city, but now owns an inn specialising in halfling lodgings. He has a couple of rooms for use by 'big people', too. * The Enderman Lodge. A high-quality establishment, suitable for the better-off travellers. George Enderman presents himself as an upper-class gentleman, but prides himself on top quality service and top quality food and drink. He even has access to elfish wines. == Surrounding Villages == Grigans fen is situated to the north, the halfway point on the way to Eversham. === Ballum Village === This is the first stopover village on the road to Ireby, to the east. It sits amid the plains of North Ticetia, away to the south is the western leg of the rolling hills that are south of Ridstock. The farmland here spreads wide around, and is very productive these days. The road to Ballum is always busy with food supplies rolling out through Ridstock and Eversham.
