Hendon Magreen's Provisions and Supplies
Hendon Magreen operates a large provisions store in the city of Antoma in north Antaurus. Hendon is a local man and has been operating his shop for over 20 years. He inherited the business premises from his father, and intends to pass it on to his sons when he retires himself in the early 1420s. There has been a Magreen's shop on the same site for over 100 years, a fact about which the family is proud.
Hendons shop stocks many prepared foods, drawing on the supplies of local markets and the farmers to provide raw ingredients. He specialises in cooked meats, especially ham and beef, and has a huge stock of jams, pickles and preserves from his network of local producers. He also stocks mustard and salt, bread and cheese, and other preserved meats such as beef jerky and pork scratchings.
More recently he's expanded into ethnic foods, elvish mixed berries and nut kernels, and (depending on season) up to twenty different varieties of mushroom. There has been no call for Dwarfish delights yet, although it is known that he looked into supplies of barbecue rat sauce recently.
The food in his shop is considered expensive by many, but his goods are labour-intensive to produce, and he has a network of local food producers - many are the wives of other local businessmen or craftsmen. A small army of cottage industries supply his shop. Part of Hendon's reputation for quality comes from his tie-ins with the local restaurant and hotel chains. His most notable customer is The Royal Antaurus Hotel, for whom his marmalade has achieved near legendary status, and is regularly served with breakfast there.
