History
Arthea's history dates back fourteen hundred years, to the ruins of a desperate culture, where near destruction of the world was wrought by wielders of powerful arcane magic. Very little has survived from that time, few records still exist, and hardly any of the powerful magic items used to break the backbone of the world have been kept safe. Songs and tales from the free peoples are all that can be used to take a glimpse into the past of the world.
In the years since then, society has rebuilt itself. At first all struggled, but eventually the free races rebuilt their civilisations, re-established their Kingdoms and have been fighting with each other ever since. They have managed this despite the attempts of some of their leaders to bring about another cataclysm, and despite invasions from inside the lands and outside.
