Tablug
This is a tall tower overlooking Fornan Bay (both the town and the bay itself) in the south of Caldonacia. It was built in 1082-1083 by the kings of the region of the land which was to become Caldonacia. Its original stated purpose was as an observatory, but in reality it was a military defence, to watch over the waters and the land for an advance of troops from the Empire. It was extended and re-built in part by various kings since, including an overhaul by King Hugo to help with defences against raiders from the east.
As the region of Caldonacia that is south of Fornan Bay and Loudman became uninhabited as the population contracted after the warring with the Empire, the presence of this tower became more important. Its position made it a useful lookout for both approaching Imperial ships and the movement of any troops across the lands of the south. Since unification it has had no military purpose other than in the earliest year to help spot approaching raiders from the east.
There has never been a time since it was built that it was not in use. It has been returned to its original purpose in recent years, it is now employed as an observatory, although it is still maintained as a military look-out tower watching the seas to the east.
It is operated jointly by The Imperial Academy of Magic and The Pale Flame's Sages. There is also a special unit of the Kings Guard stationed here.
