King Hugo
1284-1339
King of Ticetia 1321-1339
King of Caldonacia 1330-1339
Hugo Kennedy grew up as a part of his family's commercial empire. The family trade stretched over much of southern Ticetia, and touched on many industries; the family had control of several mines, woodcutting companies, food shipping companies, and grain storage. Hugo's father had inherited the business from his father, but the family was large. Even though Hugo was the eldest of six brothers, he chose to move into the political arena, something he seemed more suited to. He used the family wealth to manipulate members of the Ticetian council, and eventually managed to both convince them that they needed a single figurehead and that he should himself be proposed.
He took his vows to take on the role of King in 1321, and immediately set about the task of becoming the sole ruler of the land. By the end of 1325 he'd achieved that, the council was dissolved following a series of incidents discrediting its members.
Hugo was not satisfied as the King only of Ticetia, and re-organised the military structures to mobilised her resources in an invasion of Caldonacia. His ultimate goal was the throne of all the lands. The Caldonacian war was over quickly, but his dream was scuppered, however, when he turned his army southwards. This war dragged on far longer than he'd anticipated; the Imperial army was well organised and a much stronger opponent. Hugo died of ill health in 1339 while the war still continued, and control of the army was handed to his son, William.
