The Guild of Warriors of Danethrae
As a religion, Danethrae has a national base, and it seeks to continue this through its guild network which provides support chiefly for its Paladins. The Guild has been in existence almost as long as Paladins have been members of this church, and it is they who make up the main membership of the guild. All Danethrae's warriors are asked to join, whether Paladins or not, and the church's religions teaching is continued in the guildhouse. The organisation is aimed directly at Paladins of the church; and those who are may train here for free with the permission of their church whether they are members of this guild or not. Less than ten percent of members are non-Paladins.
The guild makes strong demands up on its members, calling upon them to provide service to both guild and church. They try to ensure regular attendance at church, and every Paladin member is duty bound to spend one week at the guild-house during each year training those of lower level than himself free of charge (although lodgings, food and minimal expenses are covered by the guild during this time). For those Paladins of high enough level to use cleric spells, this training is organised by the church inside the guild-house too.
Unlike other guilds, there is only one level of membership that can be bought in the Guild of Danethrae, although other levels exist. Fellowship will normally be attained somewhere between third and seventh levels, upon ending a quest instigated by the guild. The cost of membership following this will not change, though. Above this the levels of Expert and Master can follow, provided further quests are completed. The methods used by the guild are similar in many ways to the promotion system used by many of Artheas armies in the past, and are wholly achievement orientated.
The cost of membership to the guild is 50gp per year to Paladins, and 75gp per year to all other warriors in addition to the regular tithe (members of this guild must be members of the church). Members are also required to attend church at least six times during each year, or failing that to receive service from a cleric of Danethrae of at least fourth level once per month.
