When ["General Cassius Dumus"] siezed control of the Empire in 1063 he needed to reinstate the true line of the rulers of the Empire, and came searching for the heir of the Empire. As Dominus was the oldest survivor of his family, and closely related to the Emperor, it was easy to search the family history and prove his imperial pedigree. Dominus needed a promise of military protection if he were to take on the Emperor's crown. This he received from Dumus.
