Mellinara

Mellinara is a city of northern Cerlain. It sits upon major trade routes leading to the capital, Tamish. It is a wealthy city - it straddles the junction where the roads from the major ports of Obsecum and Port Epinum meet on their way to Tamish.

Geographic Location

The city sits upon River Tialla, which is a tributary to the River Dolma. The Tialla is broad in places, and the lands south and east of the city are wetlands and bogs, where the river spreads wider over the flat, low-lying basin. Scattered through the peaty lowland here are chunks of rock which jut out into the river making the broad, slow waters burble in places. This highlights the river's shallowness which making it unsuitable for the standard river transport boats. The river here has become popular for recreational craft, especially where the waters are a little deeper to the west of the city.

The land surrounding the city is dominated by farmland. To the north and north-west of the city, the land becomes rolling moorland, woodland and is exposed and wild in places. This region is popular with trappers and hunters who make a living selling fresh meat and animal skins.

The farmlands extend to the south and away to the west, south of the road to Selbern and Miellias.

Political

The city is governed by Viscount Corello Manichio, who is subordinate to the Count of Tamish, Count Hectus Vosso, and the Prince of Cerlain.
