Saltley

This is a large town on the southern borders of Caldonacia. It is a bustling cosmopolitan town, almost large enough to be considered a city. Its location on the trade route between Fornan Bay and The Gora Delve enhance the prosperity of the people. The town sits upon the River Jallar, which also passes down through Fornan Bay.

In the 1300's and into the early 1400's, the town has benefited from a freshwater port, used to load small quantities of goods from Gora headed for the sea-based export markets. There is little room here for much expansion of the port, the river is not deep enough here to support any heavier trade.

The town also has its own mining operations, but on a small scale and located in the close mountains. Venturing too far to the west in the mountains is dangerous, there are known to be Ogres in these hills. A road does extend to the west and through the mountain passes from here, but few journey on that route - those who do usually travel without trade goods that need to be protected.

The town has not always been on the southern edge of Caldonacia. Before the Ticetian invasion of 1329 the lands of South Caldonacia were also inhabited. Now those lands are empty, but the growth in population of this town is encouraging some to consider expansion that way once more.
