Introduction for Ticetians

As a Ticetian, you may well consider yourself to be born of the greatest of the nations of Arthea. Time and time again Ticetia's people proved their valour and strength fighting for noble causes in war. Of tough bones is Ticetia made.

Ticetia, in its current form, came into being in 1050 (getting on for 400 years ago), in an era where mighty financial prizes were available to those who successfully mined gemstones and precious metals in the north. In such a climate the persona of the Ticetian was forged. Working hand-in-hand with dwarfish experts, the wealth of the north was generated by digging rocks from the ground and selling to highest bidder.

Of course just behind the money, political intrigue followed closely, and so Ticetia developed into a nation that was also adept at both diplomacy and subterfuge. Most of the less savoury aspects of Ticetian history are, of course, ignored in modern teachings; it is far more important to focus on Ticetian achievements, such as the rescue of Arthea from the bumbling of the Imperials by civil war which ended in 1384, and the Ticetian powers of organisation that ended years of raids on the eastern and southern coastlines by foreign invaders. It was Ticetians that sponsored trade deals and built strong alliances with dwarfs for trade.

Following years of war it is only now that the south-eastern stretches of Ticetia, those closest to the Empire, are finally being resettled. These lands suffered during the war of unification. Many in Ticetia see this as a vital step, moving their borders closer to their trading partners of the southern nations, closer to the dwarfs of the Kinat delve and closer to the elves of Anta Ulennier.

Geographical

Ticetia is dominated by the city of Cellam, the current capital of Arthea, in the south of the nation. While this city has huge influence over both Ticetia and the other nations, within the borders there are other competing power-houses. To the north, the cities of Callenhall and Eversham endlessly compete for dominance. This conflict keeps a check on the power of Cellam, and continually challenges it.

Trade

Ticetia is a bastion of trade. Historically it has championed free trade and has sponsored trading ties with all. Trade should be fair and even, it is thought, and deals should benefit all parties concerned equally. Of course, Ticetia's position as trade champion means it is frequently more 'equal' than any trading partner.

Religion

Ticetia considers herself to be the home of the church of Pendaroch; where the earliest saints of that cause formed their first churches following The Great Disaster. This is a proud achievement of the nation. Today, just like the rest of Arthea however, Anbartae seem to more closely hold the attention of the people. It is the church of order and civility that appeals most to Ticetians.
