Seffen Tower
This is part of the Seffen Fort complex which is situated on an outcrop of land in northeastern Hebria. The fort was originally constructed to house troops massing for invasion of (or defence from) Caldonacia to the north during the early fighting in the war which lead to Unification. Records from before the 1320's are a little sketchy for this region, although it is believed there was an earlier fort on this site.
When the current buildings were constructed, around 1340-1345, there was only a small wooden tower offering little in the way of defence to the region, but this was replaced by a much taller stone construction, which commenced building work in 1352, and was complete in 1354. The tower was an enhancement to the defences here, but was intended to provide a lookout over the sea, since coastal raids were common at this time.
The stone used in the construction process was shipped in from the west of Hebria, from the Jorlinum mountains. More stone has been brought in more recently as the fort has been partially rebuilt in the early 1400's. There are now several buildings tucked behind a wooden palisade.
